About Sac Actun Cave System

The longest known underwater cave system in the world — over 215 miles of surveyed passage. In 2018 it connected with the Dos Ojos system making it the longest. Multiple access points throughout the Riviera Maya. Contains ancient Maya artifacts, mastodon bones, and human remains from 10,000+ years ago. The Yucatan Peninsula sits on one of the world's largest freshwater aquifer systems.
